Hair Colour Stereotypes


I have to start with the hair colour that gets most of the stereotypes which would be blonde. Everyone's heard the "dumb blonde" phase, if you haven't you've been under a rock. I'll do both negative and if possible positive stereotypes of each hair colour.

Blonde

• Yeah I mentioned it but to be precise I'll just write it again, dumb
• Overly sexual
• Vain
• Bitchy
• Clumsy (Yahoo Answers)
• Giggly
• Whores (This is going a little too far for my liking but it's been said on the internet so it HAS to be true) Note my sarcasm  

On plus side they are said to be more fun

Brunettes

• Intimidating
• Once again more bitchy 
• Judgmental 
• Bitter around blondes, That's another one from Yahoo Answers (Is it me or are people a little more nastier on YA) Whoever uses it will know what I mean. Or its an angry green troll who answers everything?

Brunettes are more liked apparently on the plus side brunettes are sexy, worldly, mature, mysterious and smart.

Raven Haired Girls

• Ruthless
• Untrustworthy

I guess us raven haired lovies don't get much prejudice and stereotyping are way..Or I'm just not counting black hair with brown because is not much different, not.. 

Where went to be sexy and hard working as well

Redheads

• Fiery
• Aggressive and or sexually aggressive
• Sometimes seen as different negatively because only 2 per cent of our population
• Have sharp tongues

On the positive side redheads can be seen as unusually beautiful, goddesses, sexy and their good in bed (Yes yet again an YA answer but hey what the heck its someone's opinion and it's not terribly awful) 

7 Basic Manners and Etiquette to Remember


1. Don't text or play with your phone at the table or with a companion

2. Whoever arrives first at the door, hold it for them regardless of gender

3. One of the most known and obvious remember to say please and thank you

4. Wait for everyone to be served before starting your meal

5. Remove hats indoors

6. Be on time

7. Do not swear too much in company and when out

Supermarket Buys

Glamour eyes Liquid Eyeliner 4ml


As supermarket own brand make-up goes the ranges are not as popular as the most well known brands and some ideas that they just cant complete with other brands. In the past I've tried the odd item from Asda's make-up range. Some good and others not so good. In this post I'll write and review about two items I picked up during my last shop at Asda, both items cost less than 4 pound for both.

Like foundations I love trying out new liquid eyeliners. The ones in the pot have anyways been my favourite by far. I am utterly useless at winged eyeliner or cats eyes with pencil eyeliner. I did try gel eyeliner but that wasn't very good either, (I'll do a post on my gel eyeliner which now I only use on my eyebrows soon)

Okay so this is the appearance which is nothing eye catching or special but this matters little in my eyes its how it works. 

 

The application brush is neither too thick or small which is good. Once applied it's fast drying and the medium sized brush allows you make precision lines. Unfortunately it's not waterproof. Another downside is that if you pull the applicator out from the bottle too fast excess liquid gets all over your hand. Overall I do like the product the brush and no chip (I mean by chip by it peeling off not long after you've had it) eyeliner makes it really good.

It's long lasting which is always a great part of any liquid eyeliner. I bought this in black, I'm such a creature of habit, it's always black eyeliner. But for those who like other colours the range is limited to around 2-3, I think. I know I should of found other before writing this, sorry!

Would I buy this again? Yes why not? It has more cons than pros.

George Quick Dry Nail Varnish in Red (Scarlett's Kiss) 5ml


I loved the very bright red colour of this nail varnish. It looked great on. But I don't like the product. Was it fast drying? Maybe I honestly didn't notice. So to the negative, it lasted a day and I feel generous saying that long. I know nail varnish on real nails doesn't last as long as we would like but a half a day I'm going with because it wasn't long at all lasting. I applied two coats as custom and the next during the afternoon I had a lot of chips here and there.

There is a lot of different shades on offer
but I feel they just aren't all that

good. If you don't mind re-doing your
nails every night and putting up with
chips I'd check them out. If not I'd look elsewhere.

Would I buy this again? No, the quality isn't there

Fashion trends of 2013 that border lined    offensive

What did I and the internet find offensive in 2013? Let me show you. I'll rate by passable, awful and offensive and let us remember what made us pull that face, you know the one when you walk in a shop or look online and see a certain item you don't ANYONE would ever wear. But they did. Please if I miss any from forgetfulness or being idle do comment below. Do be kind! This is my first fashion post.

Spikes



Spikes where everywhere in 2013. And I mean EVERYWHERE. Bra, shoes, dresses and even jackets. Not only did they look rather fetish and scary but it was just overdone with every item needing spikes we know where way too much to ever like the shoes are quite nice so I can't hate this trend so much. Now its gone away I will appreciated some of what spiked shoes have to offer. Verdict: Passable
 

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 




   Suspender tights  

 

 

Yes I have to owe up I owned a pair, no really I actually owned a few pairs. Looking back I do yes kind of cringe, I was wearing an item that really doesn't need to be seen or made into tights. I'm still learning give me break please. Made popular in 2012 they rode that popularity well into 2013. Even now I see the odd pair on women still. I don't hate them so much but they won't be making their way back into my tights draw, there up here because it seems they was both widely loved and hated, kind of like marmite. Verdict: Passable

The Geek Trend  

 

 

The geek trend seemed to creep up, it started small and then EXPLODED. I may be exaggerating a little, maybe. I really mean it wasn't around and then it was everywhere. Thankfully I never "got it" nor wore it. The geek glasses (You know which ones) the ones everyone was wearing and they didn't even need to. That's fashion for you.    

 

Verdict: Offensive

Ugg Boots

 

Whether its Ugg's or Cuggs or Huggs, I may have made up the last two, I'm referring to the boots that look like Uggs but are not and half the price. I'll admit their warm and I've worn a pair when it's just too cold for any other pair of shoes and you want to feel your feet while your outside. I stopped wearing them when I saw not just one or two other women wore them but it was the only boots everyone seemed to actually wore, the colours started getting odder and odder too. On another note they are just not good when raining, any one who has worn them will know what I mean. And people wear them in Summer, it's true I've seen them.

Verdict: Awful (because they are unbelievably unpractical when its raining or snowing and everyone wears them)

                   Make-up Styles from 1920 to 1930

 

I decided it would be fun to write about the different type of fashionable make-up styles during the eras, something I have done a little research on before starting this blog. I do intend to carry on decade to decade but for this post I'll start with the 20's and 30's when make-up was widely used by many women.

 

                            1920's

 

Lips in the 1920's where all about the cupids bow painted in deep reds, plum and dark browns. Cupids bow was exaggerating both lower and upper lips.

 

 

Unlike today fake tan was not the vogue, pale flawless was the most desired. Cream or ivory coloured face powder was very popular. Along with a fair complexion blush was used too in colours of a delicate light pink to raspberry.  

 

 

Eyes in the 1920's where heavily made up and dark. Inspired by Cleopatra's Kohl lined eyes women would copy the style, the margins of the eyeliner would be smudged along with the smoky eyes effect using black, grey and blue. Eyelashes where black and curled and long.  

 

 

Eyebrows where a very important part of make-up in the 1920's. Most women would shaved their real eyebrows off and draw them back in so they was downwards sloping. They was always black and very thin.

 

 

 

 

1930's

 

In the 1930's lips compared to the 20's changed from bright pinks and raspberry tones to lighter tones but still with dark reds and maroon shades. The style in which lipstick was applied changed to. From the cupids bow women preferred a more full mouth lipstick and more elongated bow that rounded and flared at the edges.

 

 

 

Unlike the lips the trend changed in the 1930's for eyes quite dramatically. Gone was the thick Kohl eye and dark eye shadows and replaced with thin eyeliner which was traced from the tear duct with an upturned triangle effect. Mascara was an important part of make-up still but was only used on the top eyelashes. Lower eyelashes where always left without. Popular eye shadows came in pinks and shimmers. In the day time some women would use Vaseline on their eye lids to match the shine of their eyebrows.

 

 

 

Eyebrows as in the 20's where plucked very thin or shaved off completely then using an eyebrow pencil they was drawn back in thin and drawn down to the temple. To make them shine Vaseline was applied to the eyebrows. Olive Oil was also used to dress eyebrows.  

 

For the face it was preferred for women to look white and waxy or tea rose which was ivory with a hint of pink. Foundation and powder where in light tone and the blusher was a pale pink. Later on more brighter blushers where used.

 

 

 

So which is your favourite? I find I'm more towards the 1930's style myself :)

W7 Photo Shoot 16 Hour Foundation Buff

After seeing very good reviews of W7's photo shoot foundation on beauty blogs I thought I'd give it a go since I'm always on the look out for new foundations. I've even begun to hoarder them lately. I got it in the shade Buff which is the lightest they have. There are only five shades available ranging from Buff to Natural Tan which I believe is the darkest shade available. There is no SPF. Photo Shoot Foundation apparently will give us a flawless even finish that lasts up to 16 hours. Before I cover this I will talk about the packaging.

Ever since I bought the product I have had problems with it. Firstly as soon as I took the lid off it went everywhere! As with the Cathy Doll BB Cream there is no plump and I've managed to spill it. I'm annoyingly clumsy with my creams lately. The liquid is extremely runny and a lot of it ends up wasted. Along with wiping most of it off your face because there is too much. It comes in quite a heavy glass bottle so no carry it in your bag for touch ups.

It doesn't really match my skin tone, it's quite dark with an orange tone to it, when applied to my face so I couldn't wear it on it's own. After taking it off I mixed with my Illamasqua Skin Base foundation in shade 001 which is pure white. I tend to mix this with a lot of my foundations to make the texture thicker and to match my skin tone. I didn't have flawless looking skin it said it would give me even mixed with another foundation. Since I've used the Illamasque before with other products I knew it was the W7 foundation that made my skin worse than it was at the time. A day after I used this my skin got more drier and I got a small rash which I get when using certain creams for foundations too harsh for my skin. If you have really sensitive skin please don't try this!

Overall I just think this a mess of a foundation, I wouldn't recommend this at all. Maybe the W7 eye liner pencil I bought is worth a look in but not the foundation. I can't really say if it lasted the 16 hours since I mixed it.

GOSH Velvet Touch Red Lipstick

This is one of my all time favourite red lipsticks. I'm do like GOSH products, the quality of them is great and for low prices too. It a very bright red, the shade is 60 Lambada. It's a high pigmented lipstick and contains vitamin E and vegetable oils for extra care on your lips. I don't think I can fault much with this product. It lasted me roughly 3-4 months bearing in mind I wear lipstick a lot. For £6.49 the price is reasonable. The Velvet touch range comes in a variety of colours to suit everyone.

 

 

I haven't bought any of the other shades in the range since I'm a creature of habit with my lipsticks. It's always red or none at all. But the Mulberry and peony shades look tempting.

 

 

 

The texture is very creamy and easy to apply. I adore the scent of this lipstick, it's like a warm chocolate smell.

 

 

 

It's staying power is good, when I wear it all day I will only have to re-apply once or twice at the most.

 

Of course I love the packaging as it comes a sleek classic black tube which is always a plus for me. The only thing I have to point out as a negative is it can bleed a little.

 

Even though I'm currently giving another brands a try I would still purchase this again.
